RFP - Aerial Wildfire Detection Services for the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables

This Request for Proposals (the 'RFP') is an invitation by the Province of Nova Scotia (the 'Province') to prospective proponents to submit proposals for the provision of Aerial Wildfire Detection Services Department of Natural Resources and Renewables (DNRR), as further described in the RFP Particulars (Appendix D) (the 'Deliverables').This RFP is being conducted pursuant to the Nova Scotia Sustainable Procurement Policy and Procurement Manual. Control over the prevention and suppression of fires in the woods rests with the Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables under the provisions of the Forests Act, RSNS 1989, c. 179, subject to exceptionsinthatAct.TheActprovidestheMinisterwithauthoritytoundertakeprogramstoensurethat the capability to detect and suppress forest fires is enhanced.To meet its forest fire protection mandate, DNRR provides wildfire detection and suppression services. Detection services consist of determining the wildfire risk throughout the province on a daily basis, and thencoordinatingcontractedaerialdetectionservicestoensurethatdetectionrequirementsare met.This ensures that wildfires are detected efficiently and effectively in Nova Scotia.
