Board of Governance Training for Long-Term Care and Home Care Agencies

This project, reporting through the Policy, Planning and Corporate Services division, is intended to support and equip the municipal and non-profit boards of up to 65 continuing care sector organizations (a combination of non-profit and municipally-run long-term care facilities and non-profit home care facilities), referred to hereafter as the delivery agencies, with the tools and practices they need to increase their effectiveness and innovation enabling them to be more responsive and strategic. The overall project includes four component parts: A board assessment will be completed to determine the challenges facing delivery agencies; A training program will be developed based on the results of the assessment phase. The training will be provided to delivery agencies; Follow-up coaching and support will be provided to enable agencies to implement new skills in their own context; A train-the-trainer phase will be conducted to equip SLTC staff with the skills they need to provide ongoing support, and potentially training, to the delivery agencies.
