D2. SCOPE OF WORK
D2.1 The Work to be done under the Contract shall consist of:
(a) Part 1 – City Funded Work
(b) Part 2 – Federally and Provincially Funded Work.
Part 1 – City Funded Work

Part 1 – City Funded Work shall consist of:
(a) Concrete Pavement Reconstruction and Associated Works
(i) Charles Street from Sutherland Avenue to Jarvis Avenue
(b) Mill and Fill and Associated Works
(i) Jarvis Avenue from McPhillips Street to Parr Street
(c) Concrete Pavement Rehabilitation and Associated Works
(i) Jarvis Avenue from Parr Street to Powers Street
(d) Construction of New 100mm Concrete Sidewalk and Associated Works
(i) Sutherland Avenue from Robinson Street to Charles Street
(e) Pickup and Installation of Precast Traffic Calming Curbs and Polyposts
(i) River Avenue 75m East of Arctic Street
(ii) Westminster Avenue at Ethelbert Street
(iii) King Street at Flora Avenue
(iv) John Forsythe Road 30m North of Ashford Drive
(v) Edmonton Street North at Cumberland Avenue
(vi) Talbot Avenue 20m West of Elmwood Road
(vii) Jefferson Avenue and Roberts Crescent
(viii) Southglen Boulevard at Hirt Crescent
(f) Sewer Repairs and Associated Works
(i) Jarvis Avenue from McPhillips Street to Powers Street
Part 2 – Federally and Provincially Funded Work
D2.3 Part 2 –Federally and Provincially Funded Work shall consist of:
(a) Concrete Pavement Reconstruction and Associated Works
(i) Pembina Highway Alley from Pembina Highway to Dowker Street
D2.4 The major components of the Work are as follows:
(a) Concrete Pavement Reconstruction and Associated Works
(i) Renewal of existing concrete sidewalk;
(ii) Removal of existing pavement and curbs;
(iii) Planing of existing Asphalt in intersections;
(iv) Excavation;
(v) Compaction of existing sub-grade;
(vi) Replacement of pre-cast concrete risers;
(vii) Installation of manholes;
(viii) Installation of catch basins;
(ix) Installation of catch pits;
(x) Installation of sub-drains;
(xi) Installation of sewer service pipe;
(xii) Insulation of water services;
(xiii) External point repair of existing catch basin lead;
(xiv) Placement of separation geotextile fabric and geo-grid;
(xv) Placement and compaction of sub-base material;
(xvi) Placement and compaction of base course material;
(xvii) Adjustment of manholes frames;
(xviii) Construction of 175mm plain dowel jointed concrete pavement with180mm integral barrier
curb utilizing slip form paving equipment (Charles Street);
(xix) Construction of 175mm plain dowel jointed concrete pavement with75mm integral lip curb
utilizing slip form paving equipment (Charles Street);
(xx) Construction of 230mm plain dowel jointed concrete pavement utilizing mechanical paving
equipment (Pembina Highway alley);
(xxi) Construction of 200mm reinforced concrete pavement approaches;
(xxii) Construction of 180mm barrier curb;
(xxiii) Construction of 180mm integral modified barrier curb;
(xxiv) Construction of 180mm monolithic modified barrier curb;
(xxv) Construction of monolithic curb and sidewalk;
(xxvi) Construction of lip curb;
(xxvii) Construction of ramp curbs;
(xxviii) Construction of pedestrian island (Pembina Highway Alley);
(xxix) Construction of raised concrete crosswalks (Pembina Highway Alley);
(xxx) Construction of sidewalks;
(xxxi) Installation of detectable warning surface tiles;
(xxxii) Adjustment of existing pavement and boulevard structures;
(xxxiii) Construction of manhole and curb and gutter inlet isolations;
(xxxiv) Grading of boulevards;
(xxxv) Placement and compaction of topsoil;
(xxxvi) Placement of MS1 asphalt overlay (75mm average thickness); and
(xxxvii) Placement of sod.
(b) Mill and Fill and Associated Works
(i) Planing of existing asphalt (0-50mm);
(ii) Removal of existing concrete sidewalk;
(iii) Renewal of existing sidewalk as required;
(iv) Installation of detectable warning surface tiles;
(v) Full-depth concrete repairs of existing joints and slabs;
(vi) Renewal of existing curb as required;
(vii) Construction of 100mm concrete sidewalk;
(viii) Renewal of existing curb ramp;
(ix) Construction of 150mm reinforced concrete sidewalk transit pad;
(x) Adjustment of existing catch basin, manhole, catch pit and frames;
(xi) Grading of boulevards;
(xii) Placement and compaction of topsoil;
(xiii) Placement of pavement repair fabric as required;
(xiv) Placement of mainline asphalt overlay (Type MS1, one lift);
(xv) Placement of asphalt overlay tie-ins (Type MS1);
(xvi) Placement of asphalt overlay tie-ins (Type MS3); and
(xvii) Placement of sod.
(c) Concrete Pavement Rehabilitation and Associated Works
(i) Planing of existing asphalt as required;
(ii) Renewal of existing sidewalks as required;
(iii) Excavation;
(iv) Placement and compaction of base course material;
(v) Construction of 100mm concrete sidewalk;
(vi) Installation of detectable warning surface tiles;
(vii) Full depth concrete repairs of existing slabs and joints;
(viii) Adjustment of existing pavement and boulevard structures;
(ix) Removal of existing integral barrier curb as required;
(x) Renewal of existing curb as required;
(xi) Construction of curb ramp;
(xii) Tree stump grinding;
(xiii) Grading of boulevards;
(xiv) Re-grading of existing paving stones;
(xv) Installation of pavement repair fabric;
(xvi) Placement of mainline asphalt overlay Jarvis Avenue from Parr Street to McKenzie Street
(Type MS1, one lift);
(xvii) Placement of mainline asphalt overlay Jarvis Avenue from McKenzie Street to Powers
Street (Type MS1, two lifts);
(xviii) Placement of asphalt overlay tie-ins (Type MS1);
(xix) Placement of asphalt overlay tie-ins (Type MS3); and
(xx) Placement of sod.
(d) Construction of New 100mm Concrete Sidewalk and Associated Works
(i) Excavation;
(ii) Compaction of existing sub-grade;
(iii) Placement and compaction of base course material;
(iv) Adjustment of existing boulevard structures;
(v) Construction of 100mm concrete sidewalk;
(vi) Renewal of existing curb as required;
(vii) Grading of boulevards; and
(viii) Placement of sod.
(e) Pickup and Installation of Precast Traffic Calming Curbs and Polyposts (Appendix ‘F’)
(i) Pick up traffic calming curbs, polyposts, and materials;
(ii) Sweep pavement with mechanical sweeper (Mural Locations) as indicated in D18.1(b);
(iii) Install traffic calming curbs;
(iv) Install polyposts;
(v) Install sign base plates; and
(vi) Install dowels and seal holes.
(f) Sewer Repairs and Associated Works
(i) Pre-construction sewer and sewer service video inspection;
(ii) External point repair of existing sewer main;
(iii) Existing manhole and catch basin repairs;
(iv) Replace existing risers;
(v) Remove and replace existing manhole; and
(vi) Install new manhole and connect to existing sewer
(vii) Post construction sewer, sewer service and manhole video inspection.
