Description
General Description:
The required instrumentation is a scanning probe microscope able to detect magnetic signals from a materials with high spatial resolution. The principle of operation of this microscope is a quantum sensor represented by a nitrogen vacancy (NV) defects in diamond. This information about a material can help us answer fundamental questions about the properties of novel quantum materials. In particular, we are interested in studying layered 2D magnetic materials and heterstructures that we fabricate at uOttwa.
Mandatory Minimum Requirements for the Quantum Magnetometer System:
1.0 - Quantum Magnetometer
1.1 - The proposed system must be based on nitrogen vacancy (NV) defects in diamond
1.2 - The proposed system must be able to scan 1micron by 1micron areas
1.3 - The proposed system must be able to detect magnetic fields
1.4 - The proposed system must be able to accommodate 1cm x 1cm samples
2.0 - Installation and Training
2.1 - On-site installation must be included
2.2 - On-site training must be included
3.0 - Warranty
3.1 - Must include a minimum of one (1) year manufacturer’s warranty.
4.0 - Other
4.1 - All electrical components must have CSA (Canadian Standards Association) certification, or accepted equivalent as per Electrical Safety Authority Recognized Certification Mark at the following link: https://esasafe.com/electrical-products/recognized-certification-marks/
Otherwise, all electrical components must be able to undergo the appliable electrical inspection, and/or, certification, without voiding the system warranty.
