The Toronto Police Services is requesting bidders for one (1) Backend Software Engineer
Term of the Contract
The term of this contract is for a 1 year period commencing on notice of award and background clearance with one (1) year options to extend. Contract renewals or extension, if any, shall be at the sole discretion of the TPS. The TPS reserves the right to terminate the engagement with or without cause with 10 days’ notice. Award is contingent on final confirmation of project funding.

IT Professional Services Role Name: Backend Software Engineer
Number of Resources: One (1)
Experience: Minimum 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor Degree (Computer Science, Engineering or related subject).
Description of Work
You will be working with a small team that is focused on improving the evidence management and disclosure process by streamlining and automating process workflows. Your role will be to assist in the development of components that will identify related data across multiple systems and automate the process of gathering the data into a single system for officers.
Mandatory Qualifications
- 3+ years of expertise in developing services using C#.
- 3+ years of expertise developing code that leverages APIs from various systems.
- 3+ years of expertise with database development using Microsoft SQL Server
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and participate in design brainstorming sessions.
- Experience with Microsoft SSIS.
- Experience developing APIs and distributed services.
- Experience using Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft API Manager, or any other services in the Azure ecosystem.
- Strong skills in triaging and debugging issues.
Education, Training, Certifications or Designations Required
Mandatory
- Successful completion of an undergraduate degree in a related field (Computer Science, Engineering, or related subject)
