Description
The Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) recognizes the need for clinicians to support children, youth, and their families seeking mental health services. One specific need that has been identified by clinicians, consultants, and business owners within the community is training in behaviour regulation. This training will help clinicians develop the skills and knowledge they need to effectively support children and youth in the area of behaviour regulation.
The behaviour regulation training aims to provide clinicians with a foundational understanding of the therapy and its practical application. The training should follow adult learning principles and be experiential in nature, inclusive of practical examples, case studies, and the practical application of theory. This will help ensure that clinicians are able to effectively apply the techniques and strategies learned during the training in their day-to-day work with children and youth.
The target audience for the behaviour regulation training is clinicians who will support caregivers and their children/youth in behaviour regulation. This includes approximately 150 clinicians annually with the budget of $21,400 per year. Once training dates have been confirmed, staff will be able to register for their preferred training dates on the MCFD Learning Management System (LMS).
