Description
Work services for BC Timber Sales (BCTS), Lakes/Morice spring tree planting will consist primarily of straight plants at 2000 stems/ha, established with fertilizer tea-bags. There are six (6) blocks planned for within this contract, all under the Forest Investment Program (FIP) as administered by BCTS. Please refer to the General Location map as there is one large block in the East Gates (Morice), the remainder are in the Lakes, south of Francois Lake.
For the 2024 spring planting, expect all spring delivery spruce, pine, and cedar seedlings to be ‘loose packed’ with no wrapped bundles in cartons. Cartons will be clearly labelled indicating loose packed cartons.
Total tree allocation for the Lakes/Morice FIP planting contract is estimated at 1,179,120 spring seedlings.
Spring Iwrap Lw (PSI 410), expected to amount to 87,000 seedlings.
The anticipated field start date of the Lakes/Morice spring planting season is tentatively scheduled for May 1st, 2024, with a required completion date of June 21st, 2024. Further to these dates, the expectation shall be that at least half of the spring plant will be completed within the month of May, in-order to take advantage of increased soil moisture to maximize survival of planted seedlings.
