Description
The successful bidder will perform watershed and/or hydrological assessments of selected face units, watersheds, and drainages required to support operational decision making throughout the Kootenay Business Area. The successful bidder will conduct office reviews and field visits as required to complete the assessments. The assessments will provide estimates of equivalent clearcut area, hydrologic recovery, and make recommendations to determine the feasibility of future development in those areas of interest. The successful bidder will prepare written reports that outline these recommendations. The successful bidder (at the direction of BCTS staff) may be required to meet with public stakeholders to answer questions and/or present their findings with BCTS staff at public meetings. The work will be completed in accordance with the final approved BCTS Watershed Assessment and Risk Management Framework Practices Document and needs to be consistent with the FPBC/EGBC practices document "Watershed Assessment and Management of Hydrologic and Geomorphic Risk in the Forest Industry" (Ver. 1.0, 2020). The hydrological assessments will be completed, and reports submitted according to the timeframes specified in the tender documents and/or mutually agreed upon with the Ministry during project assignment.

The lowest priced or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
Be aware that BCTS has made changes to its EMS and SFM programs to meet the updated 2022 Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Forest Management Standard. Changes impacting BCTS clients include new training requirements (Table 008-1, 008-1A, Tailgate Training, SFI Awareness documents, and new Indigenous rights awareness training, as well as changes to training frequency and a new continuing education component). In addition, note changes to EMS/SFM Environmental Field Procedures and Incident Reporting Procedures which occurred June 1, 2022.
Supervisors and workers will need to be familiar with these changes prior to commencement of operations. These documents are posted on our external EMS/SFM website at BC Timber Sales - Business Area Environmental Management System (EMS) and Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) - Province of British Columbia (https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/industry/forestry/bc-timber-sales/forest-certification/ems-sfm). More information on SFI available at www.forests.org.
Unverified bid results will be posted to BC Bid after tender opening and once awarded the contract award results will be available on BC Bid.
