Description
The proposed contract EN25TAH5403 (Maxan FSR Road and Bridge Construction) requires a contractor to complete installation of 2 (two) 9.144 metre, L100 load rated, bridges and the construction of approximately 430 metres of Forest Service Road. Works will originate at the current end of the Maxan West FSR (9772-12), located West of Burns Lake, BC. The contractor will require the services of a Professional of Record for the installation of the 2 bridges. The 2 bridges consist of steels girders with modular timber deck panels on lock blocks, including timber sills and ballast walls, and rip rap. BC Timber Sales will provide the bridge designs and bridge materials, and the contractor is required to pick-up and transport to the worksite the materials from the Houston Storage Yard just off at 7km on the Morice River FSR. BC Timbers Sales will provide loading of the Bridge Materials that are at the Houston Storage Yard. Rip Rap for each bridge is located in a rock pit approximately 15km from the work site; the contractor will be required to sort and load the rip rap, transport it to, and place it at the 2 bridge sites as per their corresponding designs. Please review the specimen contract for further information and specific works required.
Sealed tenders for the Maxan FSR Road and Bridge Construction - Contract EN25TAH5403 will be received by the Timber Sales Manager, BC Timber Sales, Babine Business Area, 183 Highway 16 West, Burns Lake, BC, up to 11:00:00 AM (local time) on August 21, 2024, at which time tender submissions will be opened in private. Late submissions will not be accepted and will be returned to the bidder unopened.

The lowest priced or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
Be aware that BCTS has made changes to its EMS and SFM programs to meet the updated 2022 Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Forest Management Standard. Changes impacting BCTS clients include new training requirements (Table 008-1, 008-1A, Tailgate Training, SFI Awareness documents, and new Indigenous rights awareness training, as well as changes to training frequency and a new continuing education component). In addition, note changes to EMS/SFM Environmental Field Procedures and Incident Reporting Procedures which occurred June 1, 2022.
Supervisors and workers will need to be familiar with these changes prior to commencement of operations. These documents are posted on our external EMS/SFM website at BC Timber Sales - Business Area Environmental Management System (EMS) and Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) - Province of British Columbia (https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/industry/forestry/bc-timber-sales/forest-certification/ems-sfm).
