Updating the British Columbia Labour Market Forecast and Projections

Description
The annual 10-year labour market forecast of supply and demand will entail developing the following customized forecasts:
- customized 10-year macroeconomic and industry sector GDP and employment outlook for British Columbia and seven Economic Development regions (standard Economic Development regions with North Coast and Nechako regions combined in to one aggregate region).
- customized 10-year employment forecast for at least the 64 industries listed in Appendix D for B.C. and the seven regions. The 64 industries in Appendix D have been defined as individual or aggregations of NAICS 2017 industries. With the release of NAICS 2022 in January of 2022, the 64 industries will need to be redefined as individual or aggregations of NAICS 2022 industries.
- customized 10-year forecast of employment and job openings (with a breakdown of replacement and expansion job openings) for all 516 National Occupational Classification (NOC 2021) occupations by the detailed industries listed in Appendix D for B.C. and the seven regions.
- customized 10-year forecast of employment, labour demand, and job openings (with a breakdown of replacement and expansion job openings) for all 516 NOC 2021 occupations for B.C. and the seven regions.
- customized 10-year forecast of labour supply and supply compositions for all 516 NOC 2021 occupations for B.C. and four aggregate regions (Mainland Southwest, Vancouver Island and Coast, Southeast and North). The Southeast is the sum of Kootenay and Thompson Okanagan. The North is defined as the sum of North Coast and Nechako, Cariboo and Northeast).
- customized scenarios, the contractor will provide up to three custom forecasts based on alternative forecast assumptions provided by the Ministry.
The successful proponent will consult with the Ministry throughout the development of the forecast with respect to assumptions used and for final approval of the output.
These forecasts are produced annually, and the successful proponent will provide the Ministry with the forecasts by July 2023.
