This RFP seeks services for the first phase of the Eastern Wellfields Renewal Planning project, 'hydrogeological investigations'. A qualified hydrogeologist will lead the investigations to ascertain if there are locations within an economical distance of Farmer DS where good water quality wells could be drilled to replace the AMWSC's Industrial, McConnell, and/or Riverside Wells. The investigations are anticipated to comprise both desktop analyses and test well drilling.
Farmer 1 and 3 wells will remain sources for the Farmer DS since both pump stations were replaced in 2020. Replacement wells' quality will need to be such that their blending with the F1 and F3 waters result in an effluent from Farmer DS that meets the above described water quality objectives. Since F1 + F3 will remain AMWSC sources, it is assumed that the replacement well(s) would need to provide anywhere from 5 - 10 MLD.
The findings from the hydrogeological investigations will determine the scope of Eastern Wellfields' Renewal Planning project's next phase, an engineering assessment. That assessment would evaluate the cost-benefits of (i) building pump stations and water main connections from new wells to Farmer DS, (ii) adding treatment to Farmer DS to remove Mn/As/NO2/NO3 from existing wells + renewing their wellfield infrastructure, or (iii) replacing the eastern wellfields + Farmer DS with capacity/treatment from an alternate water source.
