Engineering and Construction Administration Consultant Services - Snow Making System Replacement and Pumphouse Upgrades

The Canmore Nordic Centre (CNC) is a Nordic sport facility located within the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park that hosts high-profile local and international events. The snowmaking system at the CNC is an extensive network (approximately 20 kilometers) of high-pressure below grade compressed air and freshwater piping with risers (hydrants) every 100 m. The snowmaking system at the CNC was initially installed for the 1988 Winter Olympics. The original pipe routing was later largely abandoned-in-place in 2005 at the end of its life. The present-day system and pipeline alignment was installed in 2005 with further upgrades to the cathodic protection system taking place in 2008. The successful Proponent is to apply proven parks-based (non-urban) technical design practices in conjunction with appropriate tools and skilled resources through the Assessment, Conceptual Design, Detailed Design, Approval Process, Issued for Tender and Issued for Construction and Project Close Out phases for the site. The objective of this project is to extend the lifespan of the snow making system and raw water lines to a minimum of 50 years.
