The City of Calgary is at the forefront of innovation in urban mobility, and we are committed to maintaining this position by evolving our fare payment systems. We are seeking a Consultant with a visionary approach to conduct a comprehensive review of Calgary Transit’s current fare payment infrastructure. This review will encompass an analysis of the current Calgary Transit system, peer-reviewed literature, and industry practices to craft a strategic vision that not only meets but sets new standards for fare payment systems, reviewed literature, and industry practices. Calgary Transit aims to be a pioneer in the fare payment space, and as such, we expect the Consultant to deliver a strategy and implementation plan for the path forward. This plan will detail the development of necessary RFPs for cutting-edge solutions, which may include but not be limited to: • Mobile Ticketing System: Incorporating both onboard and platform validators to streamline the passenger experience. • Fare Payment Management System: A robust financial system to manage transactions efficiently and securely. • Ticket Vending Machines: User-friendly and accessible machines that cater to the diverse needs of our riders. • Future Network Expansion Fare Payment Options and Airport Rail Connector Fare Payment Options: Innovative concepts and development plans for our expanding transit network. The Consultant’s expertise will guide Calgary Transit in implementing a fare payment system that is technologically advanced and user-centric, ensuring ease of access and convenience for all customers. We look forward to strategic insights that will propel Calgary Transit into the future of digital fare payment. Unless otherwise stated in the Agreement Letter, the award under this RFP will be for all deliverables of the Requirements, subject to approval by The City after each deliverable.
