University of Alberta - Request for Proposal - CFI UCommons Battery

The University of Alberta (the University) in Edmonton, Alberta, is the largest post-secondary institution in the province with student enrolment of approximately 40,000 full and part time students of which approximately 80% are undergraduate students and 20% are graduate students. The University offers over 200 undergraduate programs and over 500 graduate programs. The University employs an academic and support staff of approximately 14,500. The University of Alberta and the Department of Computing Science is inviting the submission of Proposals to supply a building scale, behind the meter battery energy storage system consisting of an enclosure containing Lithium-Ion battery modules and an integrated inverter, which will enable us to develop methods for more complex decision making with respect to energy-source selection. All components will be connected to a microgrid control (Schneider EcoStructure) which will decide the charge and discharge power of the battery and send this control command to the battery energy storage system for execution. The successful proponent will be expected to supply and install the equipment as well as provide on-site training. As well, the successful proponent will be expected to provide options for extended maintenance and warranty. This purchase is being partially funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the purpose of this RFP is to finalize this grant process and acquire the specified equipment.
