Jobs, Economy and Trade - Request for Expression of Interest - Child Care Space Creation Grant

As part of the Alberta Canada Early Learning and Child Care Agreement (ACELCCA) signed November 2021, Alberta’s agreement with the federal government includes a target to create 42,500 additional spaces in non-profit child care programs and 26,200 additional spaces in for-profit programs by 2026. Applications for Space Creation Grant funding is open to new or existing licensed non-profit groups, private operators or family day home agencies interested in creating new licensed child care spaces. Creation of spaces will be targeted in areas of high need and high demand for child care spaces through the following categories: • expanding existing or creating new licensed non-profit and private facilities in locations identified as child care deserts (communities where there is limited to no child care) • expanding existing or creating new licensed non-profit and private facilities where there is high demand • existing and new family day home agencies creating spaces in child care deserts (communities where there is limited to no child care) and areas of high demand This application process will be used to identify qualified Applicants across the province that are interested and capable of creating new licensed child care spaces in Alberta. This application process will provide an opportunity for interested Applicants to be selected as recipients for grant funding. The Application will be used to assess interested Applicants’ qualifications, organizational capacity, partnerships and collaborations, delivery plan and budget, and alignment with grant objectives.
