    Description
    This contract is for ~2.063km of New Road Construction on BWW031FSR. The work is in the Sayward Forest between 220m and 250m elevation. Work is planned to commence in June 2024 with a substantial work completion date of October 31, 2024. There are 2 all-steel portable structures with concrete abutments to be installed over fish habitat along the road alignment. There is a timing window of August 15 to September 15 for the structure installations, however an environmental monitor can be used to construct the structures outside of the timing window if required. Professional services for bridge installations will be provided by BCTS (Professional Engineer and Biologist).

    The Contractor should carefully review the Conditions of Tender and must include, with their bid, a list of equipment and key personnel that are planned to be used on the project (reference: Schedule C Project Specifications, Schedule I‑2 Equipment List and Schedule I‑3 Key Personnel List).

    Minimum Equipment requirements are outlined in Schedule C. Contractors must ensure they have the required equipment necessary to complete the work.

    Timber Handling requirements and bucking specifications for right-of-way clearing are outlined in Schedule C.

    Road Designs and General Arrangement drawings are included in the tender package. All volumes in the road design are in-place volume and doesn’t account for shrink and swell factor of ground types.     Tender submissions must be submitted in accordance with the terms and conditions specified in the tender package.

    If your bid deposit is in the form of cash, money order, certified cheque or bank draft, you will not be able to e-bid. See allowable submission delivery method(s) above. Also see Conditions of Tender for acceptable bid securities.

    The lowest priced or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

    Be aware that BCTS has made changes to its EMS and SFM programs to meet the updated 2022 Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Forest Management Standard. Changes impacting BCTS clients include new training requirements (Table 008-1, 008-1A, Tailgate Training, SFI Awareness documents, and new Indigenous rights awareness training, as well as changes to training frequency and a new continuing education component). In addition, note changes to EMS/SFM Environmental Field Procedures and Incident Reporting Procedures which occurred June 1, 2022.

    Supervisors and workers will need to be familiar with these changes prior to commencement of operations.     Unverified bid results will be posted to BC Bid after tender opening and once awarded the contract award results will be available on BC Bid.
