Description
BC Housing is seeking an Indigenous organization with experience in data analysis and storytelling who has Indigenous leadership to bring perspective to the experience of Indigenous people who experience homelessness in BC through the recently collected Point in Time (PiT) Count data.
This project seeks to further the Province of B.C. and BC Housing’s commitments to Reconciliation through working towards a new relationship with Indigenous people. This project will be guided by oversight of the Indigenous Data Advisory Committee (IDAC) on the publication of the report. The successful proponent will receive support from the Homelessness Association of BC (HSABC) who is contracted by BC Housing as the organizational lead overseeing the Provincial PiT Count. HSABC will assist the successful proponent in accessing and working with the PiT Count data.
It is important this data analysis and visualization be led by an organization with Indigenous people in key leadership roles. Historically, Indigenous histories and stories have been researched and told from a colonialist perspective. It is integral to have the interrogation, analysis and storytelling of Indigenous PiT Count data done by an organization with strong cultural knowledge.
Ideal candidates are Indigenous organizations with a focus on homelessness, housing, and/or data analysis with Indigenous people in key leadership roles. Ideal candidates will also have experience producing high quality data reports and infographics that tell Indigenous stories rather than merely reporting data.
