Bridge File 01963 - Bridge Rehabilitation and Other Work

The Work at Bridge File 01963 carrying Range Road 53 over the James River, involves substructure rehabilitation, bearing replacement, and limited superstructure rehabilitation on the existing steel truss bridge. A location plan has been included in the Plans section of this document for the Contractor’s convenience. Without limiting the provisions of these Specifications and Contract, the Scope of Work at this site shall include the following: • Mobilization • Traffic Accommodation for Bridge Construction • Total Suspended Solids (TSS) Testing • Removal of Existing Abutments • Excavation • Backfill • Construction of Concrete Abutments and Approach Slabs • Pier Partial Depth Repairs • Pier Column and Top Surface Preparation • Fabrication, Supply, Delivery and Installation of Bridge Bearings • Fabrication, Supply, Delivery and Erection of Structural Steel and Associated Materials • Miscellaneous Iron • Approach Rail Repairs • Strip Deck Replacement • Wheel Guard Replacement • Bridgerail Repairs • Timber Subdeck Repairs • Roadway Work • Heavy Rock Riprap (Class 3) • Miscellaneous Repairs Each bidder, in submitting a Tender, acknowledges that he has examined the site and the surrounding area; and is familiar with all conditions and /or restrictions that could affect or limit his operations due to such things as environmental constraints, public traffic, and property of others. Unless otherwise specified, the Contractor must supply all materials necessary to complete the Work. A complete job is called for, therefore any labour, material, equipment, tool or incidental item not specifically mentioned, but necessary for completeness will be considered incidental to the Work, and no separate or additional payment will be made.
