City of Lacombe Tree Management Plan

The project is for a Tree Management Plan to preserve the existing tree canopy and provide guidelines for its maintenance and growth downtown and throughout the City. This plan will guide the Parks and Facilities Department to ensure trees within the city limits are cared for sustainably and according to their varied surrounding environments. The City is in the process of creating a tree asset register or inventory and has drafted initial management documentation, including an “Urban Forest Management Plan” (UFMP) and an accompanying guideline to upkeep and develop the tree inventory in the City of Lacombe “UFMP Standards Specification Manual.” The 90% Submission package for both plans with also be reviewed by the DARP Committee, and comments will be provided to the proponent to include in the final submission. The City has a budget of $30,000 plus a small contingency to deliver the scope. Where applicable, the City prefers sourcing existing standards, specifications, or details from Alberta municipalities or other established entities rather than designing new ones.
