City of Calgary - Invitation to Bid - SW Calgary Bikeway

1.This SOR is open to pre-qualified firms only. Proponents are invited who have been pre-qualified based on specific information previously submitted through The City’s RFSO 22-2004. Proposals will only be considered from proponents that were awarded under RFSO 22-2004. 2.The City is looking for a prime consultant that will design retrofits for high priority streets in southwest Calgary. The benefits are to support affordable, safe, travel options year-round. The outcomes will mean better travel options for students and supporting policy goals described in Local Area Plans and to advance transit-oriented development. The primary corridor that will be investigated in this project is: 1.Southwest Neighborhood Bikeway the user experience along this route will be brought to 5A (Always Available for All Ages and Abilities) network design principles extends between the Elbow River Pathway and Anderson Road using: •5 Street SW •Haddon Road SW •Sacramento Drive SW Two additional optional add on corridors should be included: 1.East–West (89th Ave SW) Corridor – Opportunities for traffic calming and mode separation will establish a comfortable and safe east-west connection to local destinations and between Max Teal and Calgary’s Red Line. Design of other connecting facilities to the SW Neighbourhood Bikeway may be required. 2.Horton Road SW Complete Street – a complete streets design is needed in anticipation of major road reconstruction on Horton Road SW. This project will achieve the goals of several capital programs: •5A •Established Area Growth and Change Strategy (EAGCS) •Local Area Plans (LAP) This project may continue into future phases which may include detailed design and contract administration. 3.This procurement process is not intended to create, and will not create a formal, legally binding bidding process. It will instead be governed by the law applicable to direct commercial negotiations. 4. Estimated target end date is February, 2025.
