Established in 1917, HDR has grown to over 11,000 employees in more than 220 locations around the world. In 2007, we merged with Mill & Ross Architects (a firm founded in 1846), making HDR the oldest architectural practice in Canada. In 2009, our Canadian practice acquired G+G Partnership Architects, one of Canada’s leading science & healthcare technology design firms, giving us two additional offices, in London and Toronto. In 2015, we acquired Vancouver-based CEI Architecture, an award-winning firm with a strong project portfolio spanning many sectors, most notably including justice, civic, and commercial/corporate. We're industry leaders in both Integrated Project Delivery and mass timber design. Our IPD journey began nearly a decade ago - Now, with more than 100 IPD projects representing more than 5 million square feet, we understand how to work in this collaborative and integrated style at any scale and are committed to sharing lessons learned and best practices. We are without question the leading architectural practitioners of IPD in Canada. We are also leaders in Mass Timber design. Our BC practice was ahead of the curve on mass timber and has been delivering award-winning projects for over a decade. In Ontario, each of the Canadian Nuclear Laboratory projects features mass timber structure.
