Letter of Intent - Factorydale Hydropower Project

The Berwick Electric Commission is pleased to announce the forthcoming release of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for rehabilitating the Factorydale Hydropower Plant in Aylesford, Nova Scotia. We invite qualified hydropower Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) expressing their interest in participating in this significant project. At this point, we are not asking for proposals or bids for the project. Commissioned in 1968, the Factorydale Hydropower Plant has been our community's cornerstone of renewable energy generation. The plant has reliably served the region for more than five decades with its Francis-type turbine and associated generation equipment. A recent comprehensive condition assessment has revealed significant deterioration in critical components, notably the turbine, which has suffered irreparable damage. The Berwick Electric Commission is committed to revitalizing the Factorydale Hydropower Plant to preserve its legacy of delivering sustainable energy while meeting modern efficiency and environmental standards.
