To eliminate the risk of bidder disqualification based on failure to re-submit in response to an Amendment, as required by the new BC Bid rules, BC Hydro has changed its practice as of November 24, 2022, such that all changes to BC Hydro (including Q&As and Addenda) are now treated as “Addenda” (and not “Amendments”) within the BC Bid rules and, as such, no longer require re-submission by the bidder of any already made submission. Please see Addenda instructions for further information.
The above practice change means that changes (including Q&As and Addendas) to BC Hydro opportunities will no longer be posted in the RFx Documents section of this Overview tab.
Please refer to the Addenda tab for any changes to this opportunity.
Supplier Registration
Interested suppliers should note that BC Bid has upgraded its platform and that registration (or re-registration) in the new platform is necessary in order to respond to any opportunity after May 30, 2022. Suppliers are encouraged to register on the new BC Bid platform, in accordance with BC Bid process requirements, well in advance of the Closing Time for the opportunity to which they may want to respond. Supplier registration can take a number of days to complete. Step-by-step guides are available to help users register and create their accounts. Failure to comply with BC Bid requirements is at the supplier’s own risk and BC Hydro does not assume any responsibility for the consequences of such non-compliance, including the supplier’s inability to submit a response to this or any other BC Hydro opportunity.
*** Opportunity Details ***
BC Hydro implemented a project currently in progress known as “Climate Change Vulnerability and Grid Resiliency” which aims to develop tools that can be used by planners and engineers of the organization to identify regions and infrastructure that will be affected by increased hazards from climate change. The project is broken into four stages that focuses on flooding, terrain stability, climate adjusted data, and climate risk matrix development. Stage 1 – Flooding is currently in progress. Stage 2 – Terrain Stability Mapping is the next stage of the project and is the focus of this RFI application. This stage aims to focus on developing models of future climate scenarios for flooding, riverine movement, rising sea level, erosional ground loss, and identifying hazards to existing and new infrastructure. BC Hydro aims to complete this stage of the project by collaborating with partners that will also benefit from the models and data that will be created. The successful completion of this stage will allow BC Hydro to develop and implement adaptation measures to increase the resiliency of the grid from climate hazards.
This opportunity is subject to Chapter 5 of the Canadian Free Trade Agreement.
All responses should be in English.
