Notice is hereby given that the Ministry of Attorney General has been direct awarded a contract to British Columbia Law Institute (BCLI) (the “Supplier”).
The high-level details of the contemplated contract are generally described below.
The Ministry of Attorney General has funded the British Columbia Law Institute (BCLI) to provide independent law reform advice and recommendations since 2003.
The BCLI has been undertaking law reform projects in the public interest for over 25 years. It brings together diverse legal, academic, expert and community collaborators to clarify and improve the law, develop innovative solutions, and increase access to justice. Its methodologies rely on deep relationships within the legal community, its reputation with government ministries and other policy stakeholders, and its rigorous and credible research.
The BCLI includes the Canadian Centre for Elder Law (CCEL), which takes on projects that address legal issues related to our aging population. In 2022, BCLI launched the Reconciling Crown Legal Frameworks (RCLF) Program to conduct research and education to help implement BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA).
The term of the contract is expected to be from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025, with options to extend for up to four (4) one (1)-year periods.
The aggregate value of the contract is expected not to exceed, exclusive of applicable taxes $875,000 which includes all potential options to extend.
