Description
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, Recreation Sites and Trails Branch, along with our partners at Freshwater Fisheries Society of British Columbia, are seeking a qualified contractor (supplier) to provide professional recreation site planning services to conduct preliminary field reconnaissance studies and recreation site planning at several lakes in the 100 Mile House Natural Resource District to identify both potential opportunities and limitations to develop new public recreation sites for camping and angling (fishing). The lakes that are being targeted for possible development include: Sheridan Lake and Lac Des Roches (along Hwy 24), and Ruth Lake (near Forest Grove). The objective of the work will be to identify sites that could support the future development of new recreation sites and boat launches, to provide new opportunities for public camping and improve angler access on lakes that are considered valuable fisheries.
To be eligible to conduct the services being considered under this opportunity, the supplier must supply key personnel that are members in good standing of the Forest Professionals of British Columbia (FPBC) and the Association of Professional Biology (APB).
The supplier will be responsible for conducting preliminary field reconnaissance studies and assessments within areas of Crown land near the target lakes to determine the probability of developing a recreation site and boat launch, taking into consideration all known values, including biodiversity, wildlife, timber, soils, visual quality, water quality, fish and riparian values, forage and associated plant communities, and cultural heritage values, to formulate professional management recommendations. The supplier’s management recommendations will aid Recreation Sites and Trails staff and contractors with determining whether to proceed with future development, and may assist with the design, development and construction of campsites and other recreational amenities and facilities within the future recreation site boundaries. The supplier’s findings and recommendations may also be used to guide the Province in its consultation with local first nations, tenure holders, and stakeholders.
Professional recreation site planning services are to be completed prior to March 31, 2024. Field work shall be completed prior to March 18, 2024. Final report(s) must be submitted by March 26, 2024, and final invoices are due before March 31, 2024.
Further details as to the scope of this opportunity and the requirements can be found within this RFP.
