Hays Creek and Morse Creek Bridge Repair - RFT 23-0089

The City of Prince Rupert  is seeking quotations from qualified tenderers  in response to this request for tenders for the provision of Services (as defined herein) to be carried out within the required schedule set out herein for Hays Creek Bridge and Morse Creek Bridge Repairs.
The City currently maintains both Hays Creek and Morse Creek Bridges, 6th and 2nd Avenue Bridges respectively. These bridges ae large scale wooden trestle bridges, over 80 feet high and spanning more than 400 feet long. As a key part of the city’s transportation infrastructure, regular maintenance and refurbishment is required.

Scope of Services

The services will comprise of repairs for the Hays Creek (6th Avenue) and Morse Creek (2nd Avenue) bridges, including:
Hays Creek Bridge (6th Avenue):
(i) Removal of existing Asphalt surfacing.
(ii) Removal of thread rods.
(iii) Removal of sidewalk decking.
(iv) Removal of guardrails and posts.
(v) Assess timber condition and replace rotten or damaged deck laminations.
(vi) Install flashing.
(vii) Replace guardrail timbers.
(viii) Reinstate existing thread rods and tension per manufacturer’s specifications.
(ix) Install sidewalk decking.
Morse Creek Bridge (2nd Avenue):
(i) Install steel plates at all pile to bottom sill locations for Bents #12, 15, 16, 17, and 18.
(ii) Removal of existing cross bracing at Bent #6.
(iii) Install new cross bracing at Bent #6.
(iv) Remove Post #2 at Bent #4.
(v) Install new Post #2 at Bent #4 and reinstate existing cross bracing.
