Background
The City of Lethbridge acknowledges that we are gathered on the lands of the Blackfoot people of the Canadian Plains and pays respect to the Blackfoot people past, present and future while recognizing and respecting their cultural heritage, beliefs and relationship to the land. The City of Lethbridge is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
The City of Lethbridge is seeking to pre-qualify suppliers for a 3-year strategic agreement for the efficient procurement of placemaking infrastructure. This initiative aims to ensure consistency in design aesthetics, while also embracing innovative and modern infrastructure solutions to enhance the public realm. By identifying qualified suppliers, the City seeks to streamline future procurement processes and ensure access to high-quality infrastructure that can adapt to the evolving needs of public spaces. The City aims to create inviting, functional, and aesthetically pleasing public areas, such as Festival Square and Galt Gardens, with versatile placemaking elements that foster community engagement and elevate the user experience.
Scope
The scope of this RFSQ is to pre-qualify suppliers capable of providing a wide range of placemaking infrastructure for public spaces. Infrastructure may include but is not limited to the following items. Suppliers should be prepared to provide detailed information in their bid on specifications, materials and customization options.
• Bistro Sets: Commercial-grade, durable bistro tables and chairs designed for outdoor use in high-traffic areas, available in multiple design styles and finishes.
• Self-Watering Planters/Tree Planters/Garden Boxes: Planters and garden boxes equipped with self-watering systems that promote sustainability, reduce maintenance, and improve plant health.
• Seating Elements (Formal & Informal): A variety of seating options, from traditional benches to modern, informal seating like modular seating arrangements, suitable for both relaxation and social interaction.
• Play Elements (Formal & Informal): Interactive play equipment for all age groups, designed to fit the aesthetic of public spaces while providing informal and formal play options, such as playground equipment or kinetic sculptures.
• Bike Parking Infrastructure: Secure, aesthetically pleasing bike racks and storage solutions that support local cycling initiatives and complement the overall look of public spaces.
• CPTED Site & Street Furniture: Street furniture designed with Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles, enhancing safety while encouraging public interaction.
• Pedestrian Elements: Infrastructure such as pedestrian counters, bollards, wayfinding signage, or shade structures to guide, protect, and enhance the pedestrian experience in public areas.
• Other Amenities: Additional innovative infrastructure elements that contribute to placemaking, including but not limited to water fountains, trash receptacles, or community message boards.
Suppliers should demonstrate flexibility in product offerings to adapt to the evolving design needs of public spaces. Additionally, products should meet the City’s standards for durability, accessibility, and environmental sustainability.
Proponents are asked to provide customer-specific pricing on identified items within the product categories listed. Pricing should be competitive and reflect the long-term nature of the agreement, considering volume discounts and other cost-saving opportunities.
In addition to individual item pricing, proponents should outline any aggregate discount structures available across different product categories. This may include bulk purchasing discounts, cross-category incentives, or tiered pricing based on annual spending thresholds.
Delivery
The City expects a maximum six (6) week delivery deadline on all non-customized orders from the receipt of the PO. If this delivery deadline cannot be reached, the City will consider offering additional lead time on a case-by-case basis.
Durée du contrat
La durée estimée du contrat sera de 36 mois, avec une date de début proposée du 2024/11/01.
