University of Alberta - Advanced Contract Award Notice / Notice of Proposed Procurement - Track & Field Equipment

The mats quoted are direct replacements in like (brand and style) of the current mats owned by the department. The department owns the bases/trays which these mats fit into and are designed specifically for the mats quoted. Therefore, if forced to purchase different mats, the department would be required to purchase new bases/trays. Grant funding has been received to replace the mats and equipment associated with the mats, excluding the trays. The bars and standards quoted are specifically designed to fit with these mats and are compatible with the current equipment owned by the department. Thus, changing brands will lead to incompatibility with existing track and field equipment owned by the U of A. In addition, the track surface has been professionally marked with the existing equipment. Therefore, if forced to purchase different equipment, the track surface may need to be remarked. The pole vault pit, high jump pit, and crossbars are also needed to be compatible with the existing track and field equipment. The department will benefit from purchasing the track and field equipment quoted by Running Count Inc as existing equipment won’t need to be replaced for compatibility and cost savings can be realized through the usage of grant funding received by the department for these specific products.
