    Nature of Requirements:

    The following is a summary of the statement of work for this requirement.

    The Correctional Service Canada has a requirement to, under the Corrections and Conditional Release Act (CCRA), to “provide every inmate with essential health care and reasonable access to non essential mental health care” in broad terms, health care means medical, dental, mental health care and public health services. During the period of incarceration, inmates are provided with a range of coordinated health services that are accessible, affordable and appropriate to the correctional environment.

    The requirement for offenders to have X-rays completed during their incarceration is a regular occurrence. They are utilized in the diagnosis, management and tracking of many diseases. They are commonly used in CSC to support the diagnosis and treatment. E.g. Tuberculosis and fractures.

    Objectives: To generate X-rays to visualize the internal structures of a patient based on a legal treatment order in accordance with clinically acceptable standards for the purpose of assisting with the diagnosis, treatment and management of offender illness.

    To interpret X-rays to assist with the diagnosis, treatment and management of offender illness.

    Deliverables:

    Radiation Technologist

    The Contractor must respond to and complete requests for X-ray services within the following timeframe, as determined by the Project Authority:

    • Urgent: within twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) hours;
    • Semi-urgent: within twenty-four (24) to seventy-two (72) hours;
    • Non-urgent (Regular): within one (1) week.

      The Contractor must conduct X-rays as requested, in keeping with professional and accreditation standards.

    Radiation Technologists are not responsible for the X-ray equipment maintenance; however, they will provide assistance with trouble-shooting machine/equipment difficulties and will outline any repair/maintenance issues.

    Radiologist

    Interpretation of the images will be completed by a qualified Radiologist and will be faxed to the institution, to the attention of the CHS.

    The Contractor must respond to and complete requests for X-ray interpretation within forty-eight (48) hours of the X-ray being taken, with the exception of urgent requests, which must be responded to and completed within twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) hours of the X-ray being taken.

    The Contractor must provide written consultation reports and documentation as required for patient service in English. The Contractor must also provide recommendations to the CHS in order to meet the community standards of practice in relation Radiology services.

    The Contractor will have consultation with the Institutional Physician on an as and when required basis via phone.

    Term of Contract: Period of the Contract: The Work is to be performed during the period of April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 with the option to renew for four (4) additional one-year periods.
