The Correctional Service of Canada requires regular maintenance as well as emergency repairs on various small appliances throughout the Dorchester Penitentiary Complex and Shepody Healing Center. This is due to the wear and tear of daily usage of these machines. For example, in the medium sector for all ranges, the washers and dryers are the only laundry facilities available to the offenders and are used numerous times throughout the day. In the minimum sector, the appliances in that environment are used similar to apartment living with between 6-8 occupants, so the appliances are used daily as well.

    1.3 Tasks:

Appliances include but are not limited to washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, stoves, ice machines and water fountains.

    - The Contractor must identify and recommend solutions for the repair of appliances or, when required, their replacement.

    - The Contractor must not start any work until the Project Authority or their delegate gives authorization to do so.

    - The Contractor must provide all labour, tools, equipment, parts and cover travel costs necessary to provide the required service. The Contract must maintain an inventory of all tools brought on the CSC site. CSC Security will verify all tools upon the Contractor’s arrival and departure from the site.

    - The Contractor is responsible to obtain parts as required to complete small appliance maintenance and repairs.

    - The Contractor must provide service within 24 hours of receipt of a Task Authorization during regular institutional business hours (Monday to Friday).

    - The Contractor must be available to receive service calls via telephone, telephone answering machine, beeper, cell phone or other communication devices and must respond to Dorchester Penitentiary within one hour of receiving a service call to arrange a time to come in to perform the repair or maintenance service, or both.
